Paris Plages – all you need to know

“Paris Plages” offer since many years the opportunity to enjoy Paris as a seafront city. Often criticized by Parisians, this event is nevertheless one of the most original one, allowing a multitude of activities for all.

Victim of its own success, some places like deck-chairs of the Seine are often crowded. But if you choose your time well, you will succeed for sure to enjoy the place!

Paris Plages takes place in two diiferent districts of Paris, from July 20 to August 18 2013 :

– In the center of Paris : Chatelet, Hôtel de Ville (City Hall), voie Georges Pompidou

– In the 19th district : around the Bassin de la Villette

 

 

CENTRE: Châtelet, City Hall, Sully

 

Often full ? What could be more normal! You are in the historical and cultural heart of Paris, facing beautiful sceneries as Parisian bridges, the Conciergerie or the Hotel de Ville!

 

ACTIVITIES

 

Sandy beaches and deck chairs at the level of the City Hall

Chairs and seats along the Seine, Georges Pompidou way, facing the island saint louis

 

Seine’s embankments where Paris Plages take place are entirely pedestrian. It therefore offers a pleasant two kilometers walk from the Tuileries to the Sully Bridge.

BASSIN DE LA VILLETTE

 

Paris Plages around the Bassin de la Villette (19th arrondissement) offers more a “Parisian” atmosphere than in the center of Paris. Although landscape are less spectaculars, it is a good way to (re)discover this beautiful basin, which had been supplying water to Paris for several centuries.

Beautiful walk from Stalingrad to Parc de la Villette

 

Roller-tubes, boats, rowing, canoeing, rowing boats, boats …

River shuttles (1-2 €) for traveling on weekend along the Canal de l’Ourcq, from Bassin de la Villette to Bondy and Aulnay-sous-Bois.
