Better tell you straight away, this small public garden doesn’t deserve you to cover Paris to come in. But if you are in the 17th arrondissement of Paris (or nearby) and you are seeking for quiet greenery, square des Batignolles really worth the trip.
Built in the 19th century, it is crossed by a stream that runs from a little waterfall to the central lake. The whole garden is very well designed, in an English style not so common in Paris. You will also find big lawns, unfortunately mostly out of bounds. In this calm atmosphere, you won’t think about the trains continuously passing few meters from the garden. Magically, you will note that the greenery softens the railway’s thunder to convert it into lullaby.
Unlike other huge Parisian parks, this one is human sized. You will be able to observe the customs of the district inhabitants and to examine lovers came here in confidence. Don’t hesitate, after having a good time, to stroll in the area around the garden (district between jardin des batignolles and Guy Mocquet metro stop). You will discover a very pleasant neighborhood that is similar to a village inside the city.
